Evaluation Supports Sustainability: The Quality Matters Initiative

Sener Knowledge has been involved in the Quality Matters initiative since its inception. From 2003-2006, I served as the project evaluator for the Quality Matters grant project administered by Maryland Online and funded by the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education.

In addition to providing the usual array of evaluation services during the grant period, I also served as one of the six members of the QM Project Management Team. Serving in this dual role enhanced my ability to provide a unique insider's/outsider's insight to project management which contributed to the project's success. The Quality Matters project created a replicable inter-institutional continuous improvement model to assess, assure, and improve the quality of online courses.

Sener Learning also prepared a series of extensive evaluation reports, including an extensive 75-page report which documented the project's accomplishments and provided valuable details which informed and helped QM launch its post-grant transition to a self-supporting organization with national reach.

Since 2007, I have been a member of the Quality Matters Academic Advisory Council, a standing committee charged with oversight of academic policy issues related to QM. I also co-designed and have co-facilitated several online workshops on using the QM rubric to improve your online course which are offered in conjunction with the Sloan Consortium.
